Art@Schools

Since 2007, we have been engaging children's creativity in schools and the community. We are working with local schools to ensure that our elementary children have the tools and materials for art integrated learning.

 Art Matters

It helps you imagine a more hopeful future, it lowers stress, it helps you process emotions, and it activates the reward center of our brain.

Through art, we learn. Art draws on history, geography, science, languages and more. We explore the world, different perspectives, cultures and approaches. We experiment with ideas, concepts, color, balance, rhythm, form, texture, value and more. We use tools, make mistakes, find solutions, share ideas and find that there are many different ways to approach the "same thing."

Flockworks received a grant from the California Arts Council (CAC) to help us support arts-integrated learning at the elementary level. This funding keeps our creative team in action, and although there won’t be an on-site Art Studio at this time, we aim to help teachers integrate art into broader learning while engaging children in creative explorations at-home. We believe supporting children’s creative learning & exploration in their home-setting is critical.

Creative Art Learning Pack of tools and materials went out in the beginning of this school year to support at-home learning time. ART PACK has tools like clipboard, scissors, & rulers and supplies like glue sticks, crayons, watercolors, pencils & markers as well as paper and related supplies for creative projects. A special cloth Art Bag will provide a place to store tools and supplies at home. A simple Art Learning Guide for children & their families with visual ideas/prompts will encourage children to be engaged: it was in both Spanish and English to continue our commitment to bi-lingual support for creative learning. Special Project Packs follow through the year to keep children creatively engaged.
